Villa Consortile is a noble residence of the eighteenth century, is located in the middle of the mild countryside of Ragusa. Close-by are the baroque towns of Ragusa-Ibla, Modica and Noto. Just like it used to be at those times, ascending the external staircase you reach the "piano nobile" looking onto the wide panoramic terrace where you can see as far as to the sea disappearing over the horizon. En plein air moments - meant to be spent between dinners, idleness and dining under the stars - alternate to more intimate moments to spend inside the dwelling which is characterized by visible timbered ceilings, pavements made out of pitch stone and upholstered with decorations and by ancient furnishings of sober elegance. The large living-dining room is the trait d'union with the other rooms: on one side two parallel entrances lead to the kitchen and to one double bedroom with connected bathroom while on the other side of the same living room there is the entrance to another double bedroom (accessible also from the terrace). In this double room, embellished by an ancient fireplace and provided with private bathroom, as in a game of Chinese boxes a further single bedroom opens wide.
Ragusa is a city with two souls: Ragusa Superiore characterized by its modern aspect and Ibla, the most ancient core where sculptors and artists inserted - with unexpected harmony - baroque masterpieces into the classical medieval plant originating an urban landscape unique all around the world. The imposing Duomo di San Giorgio (Saint George's Cathedral) with its magnificent late-baroque façade predominates while all around it is an interlacement of alleys, courtyards and short flights of steps in which oneself can get lost in the dragons and masks which support the astonishing balconies and decorate the elegant mansions and splendid churches.
